Construction Project Manager

Location: On-site in the St Catharines office with occasional travel throughout the Golden Horseshoe
Job Type: Full-time, permanent
Compensation: $100 - $125K + bonus + Health Benefits + RRSP

As the Project Manager, You Will:
- Work in harmony with the Project Supervisor, each on an equal basis and reporting collectively and independently to the Partner in charge of Construction.
- Have thorough knowledge of plans and specifications relating to each project.
- Implement proper project start-up procedures, including obtaining building permits, liability and Builders’ All Risk insurance, bonds, Ministry of Labour approvals and the issuance of job contract summaries.
- Prepare and maintain project schedules and complete the initial and interim scheduling of construction work together with the Project Supervisor.
- Monitor and control construction progress through the administrative direction of on-site personnel to ensure each project is built on schedule and within budget.
- Evaluate trade quotations and issue Subcontract Agreements or Purchase Orders for all items relating to projects for which you are responsible.
- Administer and expedite subcontracts and purchase orders following award.
- Coordinate and process shop drawings, changes, change orders, extra work and RFIs.
- Attend all site meetings and record and distribute minutes.
- Complete specific liaison work with Architects and/or Owners of appointed projects.
- Review and analyze interim job costs and prepare and submit quarterly job forecasts.
- Prepare monthly invoices for payment certification and approve payments to subcontractors.
- Oversee final project clean-up and turnover to the Owner, including expediting certification of Substantial Performance, completion of deficiencies, close-out documentation and final holdback release.
- Complete a final check of files to be certain no extra work was carried out without remuneration.
- Promote safety on all projects under your control.
The Ideal Candidate Possesses:
- A degree or community college diploma in Engineering or Architecture.
- A minimum of five years’ construction experience as a Project Manager with a General Contractor.
- Gold Seal status through the Canadian Construction Association (CCA) would be an asset.
