TreowGroup Recruitment, on behalf of our Niagara-based client in the construction industry, is hiring an ICI Construction Estimator.
Role Overview:
As an Estimator, you will play a hands-on role in developing accurate, competitive bids for a diverse range of commercial, industrial and institutional construction projects. Working alongside our experienced Chief and Senior Estimator, you will review drawings and specifications, complete quantity take-offs, gather and analyze trade pricing, and help build comprehensive project estimates.
Location: On-site in the St Catharines office with occasional travel throughout the Golden Horseshoe
Job Type: Full-time, permanent
Compensation: $80 - $100K + bonus + Health Benefits + RRSP

As an Estimator, You Will:
- Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work and develop a thorough understanding of project requirements.
- Set up estimate files, including trade breakdowns and summary sheets.
- Prepare comprehensive trade lists, quantity take-offs and pricing for the required work disciplines.
- Attend pre-bid meetings with architects and owners to review scope and estimate requirements.
- Prepare preliminary project schedules during the estimating stage.
- Review and analyze trade pricing for completeness, exclusions and alignment with the project scope.
- Maintain communication with architect representatives and bidding trades throughout the tender process.
- Track tender results and project awards.
- Review low bids with the Project Manager and assist with project budgets, cost-control breakdowns and cash-flow requirements for job start-up.
- Maintain current information on new or changing trades, unit pricing and material costs.
- Support other departments with contract changes and related estimating information.
The Ideal Candidate Possesses:
- A diploma in Construction Engineering Technology is preferred.
- A minimum of two years of estimating experience in the ICI construction sector.
- The ability to read and interpret blueprints and project specifications.
- Experience with estimating and PDF software, including Adobe Acrobat and/or Bluebeam.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical ability and organizational skills.
- Gold Seal certification through the Canadian Construction Association (CCA) is an asset.
- Associate or full membership with the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS) is an asset.
